my girlfriend had this game on her itch.io and let me play it- I got completely obsessed with it. I'm a person who needs to be doing something to focus on someone talking (be it lectures or just youtube videos) and this is perfect for that
I have now bought my own copy and will play the hell out of it >:)
I like the concept a ton, but honestly part of me wishes you didn't move around or try to find an exit, cause when its a bit harder its really fun to think through, but a lot of the times ill just start clearing out 0 blocks and just find the exit without even having to mark any bombs. id like if i could just have a mode where you just use your mouse and solve the whole board like normal minesweeper and nomogram and like some others have said, larger boards and maybe some minimal sounds could also be nice. i really do love the blend of the two though! i've played almost an hour of it already so i do like it. ^^
This game is really something special - with some additional difficulty (larger boards over time) and sound this would be an AMAZING experience. Consider adding some beeps and boops and sticking it on steam!
In case anyone got a Steam Deck and wanted to play some handheld Lizzi Crossing, it is possible! I hope these steps help:
In Desktop Mode, download Lizzi Crossing via a browser, as the Itch.io app won't allow you to get non-linux games. Extract it somewhere easy to find.
Open Discover app and search for Lutris, then install and open it. This will allow you to use Windows programs.
In Lutris, click the plus, then 'Add Locally Installed Game'. Choose 'Wine' as the Runner and in Game Options, Executable box, browse for the Lizzi Crossing exe where you extracted it.
You should now be able to play the game by launching in Lutris (I ignored a couple of errors which did not cause any problems).
It seems to work more smoothly when launched from Gaming Mode, and you are able to use Steam controller configurations too. To set this up, open Steam from Desktop Mode and add Lutris as a non-Steam game. You can then launch Lutris from Gaming Mode (you might need to change controller config to mouse and keyboard) and play Lizzi Crossing from here.
Just wanted to say this game is really delightful!! Downloaded it yesterday and I've already put several hours into it, it really blends the two games perfectly :)
This is a really incredible blend of nonogram and minesweeper mechanics. It really plays well and is a lot of fun! I highly recommend, this is a great little puzzle game!
Thanks for the question! It's not intentional but the puzzle generator isn't perfect and you may run into these cases. I would like to figure it out at some point but it hasn't been a priority.
ooooh i looooove this, so much. i do better at nonograms than minesweeper but i still love these types of puzzle games! such a nice blend of mechanics. the "maze" feature really makes sense to go with the floor system, it's so niceee. i still have a long way to go at mastering minesweeper, but this is a game that i could close and boot back up any time i want! although it's not necessary, i'd be super interested in non-randomly generated levels, playing into the "maze" design more! nevertheless playing this is very fun!! ^w^
i love the game, and its super fun! However, I've run into an issue multiple times now where the nonogram hints and the minesweeper hints contradict each other. (i.e only three squares next to a 3 hint in a row. but nonogram hints do not contain anything more than 2 in a row)
for example. solving the four ones in a column. given that many squares are already empty from minesweeper clues. , contradicts the 2 ones and a 3 in the first row
Hello, I just downloaded the game, I really love minesweeper and I also love nonogram and this combo is really really great! It alleviates the "rng" problem of minesweeper by adding nonogram elements to make each run 100% solvable without having to guess. The concept is really great!
Here are a few suggestions that I thought of while playing the game: > The configure control option is a bit hard to work with since I have to go through all of the keys
> I got confused a bit on how to play as well as the controls, maybe a short tutorial would be awesome?
> I like the simplicity of the UI and the artstyle but it's kinda hard to see, (but it could just be me tho).
>Maybe have a save option so I can stop anytime without my progress being lost.
>Maybe have an audible feedback when I accidentally went over a mine.
The game is already fun and amazing as it is , amazing work!
This is really fun! I just tried out a bunch of different games, and this is the first one I came back to afterwards because I didn’t feel done with it yet. I like how the different kinds of limited information balance each other out, and all the cute icons. I’m a big fan of minesweeper-but-you’re-on-the-ground type games and there aren’t enough of them!
A couple of wishlist items, in case you’re looking to keep working on this:
I wish there was more variety and sense of progress between levels. Different sizes, shapes, or mine counts would be great, but just visual themes would go a long way. Relatedly, would be fun to find things in the open grassy areas sometimes, whether that was functional or just flavor. If I’m going to have to walk around, I want that to matter, y’know?
A bunch of flag things: I wish I could flag squares without the mouse, although I’m not sure how that would work. As other people have said, it would be nice to be able to flag free spaces. I like that the flagged squares are consistently different colors (I’m using the ? flag to mark free spaces) but I wish the unflagged squares were a third color, so those categories were all distinct from each other.
Oh, and the blinking sprite is kind of annoying, but I do see the problem it’s solving and don’t have a better idea. (Maybe a little thought bubble from the sprite with the number it’s standing on?)
Last and least: a confirmation button for going downstairs would be nice. It’s startling to step onto a new board when I haven’t even seen the stairs yet.
I love minesweeper and nonograms so when I found this game I immediately wanted to play it! The art is is very cute and well suited to the relaxed and streamlined puzzle experience. I love playing puzzle games (nonograms, minesweeper, freecell, sudoku) while I listen to podcasts and this one really works for me!
Hello! I just downloaded your game from the latest bundle and I'm enjoying it so far, but... is there supposed to be any audio/sfx? I'm not hearing anything. I'm playing on Linux through Wine, so if there is supposed to be audio, it's just a bug on Wine's part. Regardless, I'm loving the game as a fan of both nonogram and minesweeper.
Love this game, very addictive but relaxing too. Fave game so far of the Ukraine bundle (of the games I hadn't already played).
A couple small suggestions that could make it even better:
High score board - so maybe I could see the top 3 consecutive floors I've reached before? Would give me something to beat.
In the menu there could be a little key to explain some of the symbols or how to play? I still don't quite understand the sparkles and I can't tell if there's a difference between big and small grass patches or different coloured patches... or are those just random to make it more visually interesting?
Oh! Maybe a third marker for squares that are definitely safe? I've been using the question mark for that so far.
Thanks so much for the feedback and getting the bundle! I agree that it could be a lot clearer. The differences between the grass patches are only visual.
The sparkles are how many floors you have completely cleared. Marked every bomb, I assume also revealed as many tiles as possible.
The patches of grass are all the same, they're just equivalent to a 0 on a minesweeper board or a safe-space on a nonogram board. The different sizes and colours are just for visual appeal, they don't mean anything.
I love this game so much, the logic is incredibly fun, more than minesweeper or nonogram alone (in my opinion) but there are a lot of minor annoyances that make it hard to play. the character covers numbers making it often annoying to see what you're doing, and finding level exits is less exciting and more, oh, i guess its over. in fact, getting high scores doesn't feel particularly fun, since whether you die or succeed it starts a new level all the same. Still, overall very very fun and I keep finding myself coming back to it.
Real clever game. Reminds of Hexcells (Infinite) and Tametsi, except the puzzle is particularly over-determined. Surprisingly this freedom is not a problem, because you control a character that is bounded by the area clear of mines - restricting your puzzle solving to the 'inner area' of the nonogram. Your experience with minesweeper-likes and/or nonograms translates 1:1 into solving the respective steps of the puzzle. The movement mechanic reminds of Sokoban games (even though you aren't pushing anything). I particularly feel like I'm playing Baba Is You, that is there is a distinct sense of freedom in solving the puzzle and you're completely open to pick any of the options you feel will get you closest to the answer. There also is no one answer, such that the more boring level slogs of minesweeper-likes are rarely experienced - you don't have to solve the whole thing!
The per-level gameplay is robust and supports the logic puzzle rather than detracts from it. The freedom of each level is especially uncommon in logic puzzles. With any one mechanic, you're gonna have to solve the entire puzzle to go to the next level, and there are typically just a handful of entry points to get the next tiles solved. The minesweeper, nonogram and movement mechanics together provide about three times as many, if not more, ways to get to the exit. Enough games modify logic puzzles such as not to engage with the logic: revealing areas, placing bombs that remove tiles, potions that increase the amount of mistakes you can make, gold placed on tiles, enemies instead of mines.. Lizzi Crossing only has a three-life counter (which maybe shouldn't even be there, or surviving with full counter should give a better 'completion' grade?).
The main complaint I could think of is that the level of polish on Lizzi Crossing is low. Especially sounds or a soundtrack, soothing visual effects and a main menu are absent. Any of Hexcells, Tametsi or Baba Is You do it better - granted they are paid, full releases. Lizzi Crossing has very little feedback to what you do, even no 'congratulations for reaching the stairs, here is the next level'. I have little playtime because there is no true progress counter or world map or level list. Baba Is You has an amazing level select that is also a world map, and I could imagine there being the same thing in Lizzi Crossing where finishing a level could give you the clues necessary (minesweeper/nonogram numbers reveal) to get to the next one.
I'd buy a full release including progression, some visual/audio effects, maybe music (though I tend to play with sound muted) and perhaps a timed mode a-la Hexcells Infinite.

Great concept, could be something very neat with a bit more polish and better controls/marking options

That's awesome! Glad you like it!
So, like, when's the Android release? 😐
This shit's too
addictivefun to restrict to desktops and laptops.Hi! We played your game on stream and really enjoyed it!
It'd be great a nice convenience feature to mark a number in some way (circle it I guess) to indicate it's been accounted for with my ?'s and !'s. :|
I'm only on the 2nd level and enjoying the mild stress so far. Thanks.
Got a soundtrack recommendation for it, though? 👀
edit: Yo, it's been over 4hrs and I'm still playin' this damn game. :x

Thank you for playing and recommending!
Is intended that some puzzles are unsolvable without guessing? I think I can't solve this one: https://imgur.com/PCKwV5F

I am yes.

this is very neat and cute. i just would like an option to turn multiple fields at once and to mark a safe space. thanks for making this! :)
